Are you thinking about how to place your fittings? Read the guide below to get the answers to the most common questions! Remember that there is no right or wrong, the important thing is that it feels good to you!

High, low or in between?

  • Handles on kitchen doors should be placed where they are most practical for daily use. For upper cabinets this is usually on the lower part of the door and for lower cabinets on the upper part of the door.
  • Handles and knobs for wardrobe doors and tall kitchen cabinets are usually attached as if you were holding your arm at a 90 degree angle.
  • For a uniform and symmetrical appearance, it is important to measure carefully and ensure that all handles are placed at the same height.
  • Feel free to place them about 5 centimeters from the edges of the door.

Right, left or central?

  • For doors with hinges, always place the handle or knob on the opposite side of the hinge. That is, if the hinge is on the left, you attach the fitting to the right and vice versa.
  • For drawers or chests of drawers that are wider than tall, such as a cutlery drawer, the fittings are attached centrally to the drawer. As a rule, these drawers do not have a hinge.

Horizontal or vertical?

  • On doors with hinges, fittings are generally attached vertically and on drawers without hinges, such as a cutlery drawer, fittings are generally attached horizontally.
  • Feel free to use a spirit level to ensure that the fittings line up with the cabinet door.

Factors to consider

  • Ergonomics: Place the handles where they are easiest to reach and use. Consider the height of all family members.
  • Symmetry: For a uniform look, try to place handles at the same height and distance from the edges of all cabinets and drawers.
  • Function: Make sure that the placement does not hinder other functions, such as that the door can be opened completely without bumping into anything else.
  • Old screw holes: If you are worried about old fittings leaving behind ugly screw holes, you can advantageously choose our variants that have an underlying tray, it is also really nice and a trend that is getting stronger.

With these details, you can carefully plan the placement of your new handles or knobs to improve both the functionality and appearance of your cabinets and drawers.
